SPOTTED ANALYSIS
RACE 2 #3 NEW WORLD
Took on a very strong field in the first classic for newcomers over 1400m despite entering the race with a modest Merit Rating of only 21. Displayed plenty of natural speed on that occasion, racing one-wide throughout in a genuinely fast-run contest. Did not disgrace himself at all, finishing only 6.80 lengths behind the highly regarded Rapidash against much stronger opposition. Drops significantly in class here into a (0–25) event and benefits from the ideal draw in gate 1. Speed Maps suggest he should secure a favourable forward position from the outset in what appears to be a weak field overall. Looks ideally placed and should prove too strong for this lot.
RACE 4 #1 CAPTAIN COLA
Produced a highly encouraging seasonal debut when finishing third, only 3.15 lengths behind the exciting Crescent over 1365m. That performance was better than it appears on paper considering he had to contend with the widest draw in the field (7 out of 7) and raced four-wide uphill between the 1200m and 1000m in a strongly run contest. Unable to adopt his preferred front-running style due to quicker horses drawn on his inside, he nevertheless kept on strongly to the line. Finished approximately one length behind Captain Mike, who enjoyed a rails run throughout, while also beating Just Var by around one length. Speed Maps suggest that despite drawing gate 4 this time, he possesses enough early pace to overcome those drawn inside him and secure the lead. If allowed to dictate matters in front, he could prove extremely difficult to reel in.
RACE 5 #3 CRESCENT
Crescent heads into this contest in search of a remarkable seventh consecutive victory and continues to enhance his reputation with every appearance. Returned this season with another dominant performance over 1365m, earning an outstanding corrected time of 80.03s, with the final 800m covered in a slick 45.78s. A highly versatile performer, capable of leading or racing comfortably just off the pace, he possesses both tactical speed and a devastating finishing kick. On current form, he stands among the elite sprinters on the island — arguably the very best at present. Another bold performance looks firmly on the cards.
